A North Carolina man was charged over $1,100 by Home Depot for rental equipment he had already returned. Gordon Caviness rented an auger from Home Depot for a project at his relative's home and finished in under four hours. He received a credit of $15.47 for returning the equipment early.

However, when Caviness noticed subsequent charges on his bank card totaling over $1,100, he contacted Home Depot multiple times. Each time, he was told that it was an error and that a manager would contact him to resolve the issue, but this never happened.

Absent any resolution from Home Depot, Caviness sought help from the ABC11 Troubleshooter. After being contacted by Diane Wilson, a representative from Home Depot apologized for the mistake and provided a full refund to Caviness.
