Home Depot Gains Traction in Complex Professional Purchases
The Home Depot (HD) is gaining traction in larger and more complex professional purchases through strategic investments.
In the second quarter of fiscal 2026, Pro sales outperformed DIY sales with positive comps across Pro-heavy categories such as portable power, decking, and dimensional lumber. This strength can be attributed to Home Depot's expansion of capabilities available to Pros beyond the traditional store experience.
The company has invested in order management, delivery, B2B digital tools, and project-planning capabilities, achieving its highest levels of on-time and complete performance for flatbed and box-truck deliveries. Additionally, tools like project planning and AI-powered Material List Builder are helping Pros organize deliveries and build material lists.
Home Depot is also utilizing its SRS and GMS acquisitions to broaden the product catalog available to professional customers through QuoteCenter, allowing store associates to access the SRS catalog and close more sales within the Home Depot ecosystem. In the past 12 months, 90% of Home Depot stores have completed a sale through SRS.
