Home Depot Removed as Sponsor of L.A.'s Mexican Independence Celebration Amid ICE Raid Controversy
In 2025, ICE raids began targeting locations frequently visited by day laborers, including The Home Depot. This corporation's retail sites continued to be a focus for raids and enforcement actions.
The Border Patrol agents working out of Terminal Island conducted these raids in cities across Southern California, including the infamous 'Trojan Horse' raid at the Wilshire location of The Home Depot in Los Angeles.
A fatality occurred during one of these parking lot raids, when Roberto Carlos Montoya Valdes was killed by a moving vehicle's driver as he attempted to flee from ICE agents detaining people at a Home Depot in Monrovia.
