Home Depot's Pro Segment Continues to Outperform Despite Market Headwinds
The Pro customer segment at Home Depot continues to outperform DIY shoppers, despite ongoing challenges in the home improvement market. In the second quarter, the segment posted positive comps and strength in categories popular among Pros, including portable power, decking, dimensional lumber, hand tools, and concrete.
Home Depot executives attribute this growth to investments made in the Pro segment, including recent acquisitions of SRS Distribution and GMS Inc. The company has also expanded its Pro Xtra rewards program, adding partner offers with companies like 7-Eleven, Tecovas, and Rosie's AI Answering Service.
Despite a soft housing market and consumer uncertainty, Home Depot beat its own expectations in Q2, with total sales increasing 5.7% year over year to $47.9 billion and comparable sales growing 1.7%. The company reaffirmed its full-year guidance, expecting total sales to grow between 2.5% and 4.5%.
