Honeywell Aerospace Integrates Hydrogen Power Source for EU Clean Aviation Project

Honeywell Aerospace has made significant progress in its participation in the EU Clean Aviation Joint Undertaking's Project Newborn. The company's Brno engineering team, part of a consortium with 18 companies from 10 European countries, has successfully integrated individual subsystems into a functional hydrogen power source capable of generating and supplying electrical energy for an aircraft.

The project, launched in 2023, aims to develop an aerospace-qualified, megawatt-class hydrogen fuel-cell propulsion system. The integration of the hydrogen power source demonstrates significant progress towards this goal.

The next step will be an integrated ground demonstration of the complete propulsion system, which will include the hydrogen power source and batteries supplying electricity to an electric motor driving an aircraft propeller.
