Honeywell Technologies (NASDAQ:HON) raised its full-year profit and sales outlook after completing the spin-off of its aerospace business. The company now operates as a pure-play automation enterprise, reporting an order backlog of nearly $19 billion in the third quarter of 2026. This backlog represents the total value of unfulfilled customer bookings, providing multiyear sales visibility.
During its third-quarter earnings call on October 22, 2026, Honeywell highlighted three key takeaways for long-term investors. First, the company's process automation order backlog signals a multiyear energy expansion, driven by industrial customers in the Middle East and Africa investing in plant upgrades. Vimal Kapur, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, noted that the transition to liquefied natural gas (LNG) and renewables is fueling increasing pipeline activity.
Second, Honeywell eliminated stranded corporate overhead expenses six months ahead of schedule, expanding profit margins by nearly four percentage points to over 21%. Kapur emphasized that this rapid fixed-cost takeout allows more revenue to flow straight to net profits. Third, data center infrastructure demand drove double-digit order growth, with year-to-date orders growing over 100%. Honeywell is capitalizing on this boom by bundling its physical equipment with its Forge software platform, securing higher recurring revenue.
Looking ahead, Honeywell expects accelerating demand across energy infrastructure and data centers to push free cash flow conversion above 100% in the fourth quarter. The company's rapid debt reduction expands balance sheet flexibility, giving leadership clear capital allocation choices, including possible mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Kapur expressed confidence in raising the 2026 outlook across all metrics, setting up for a strong start to 2027.
