Honeywell Selected for Kenya's Largest Single-Train Refinery
Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE has selected Honeywell Technologies (NASDAQ: HON) to provide process technologies, licensing, engineering services, proprietary catalysts, equipment, and digital solutions for its planned 700,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Kenya.
The project is expected to become the world's largest single-train refinery once completed. The facility will use proven engineering designs previously developed by Honeywell for Dangote's refinery in Lekki, Nigeria, which is expected to reduce the development schedule for the Kenyan facility by nearly two years or around 30% compared with typical newly built facilities.
The refinery will produce gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and polypropylene using Honeywell's refining and petrochemical technologies. It will also be designed to process a wide range of crude oils, from light to heavy grades, allowing Dangote to source feedstock from multiple regions and reduce reliance on any single supply source.
Honeywell's work in Africa covers the full project lifecycle, including technology development, engineering, workforce training, and lifecycle services, as the company seeks to support the continent's expanding energy and industrial infrastructure.
