Hong Kong Citizens Lead the Pack as AI Super Users
A recent Google-commissioned study reveals that Hong Kong citizens are among the most sophisticated users of artificial intelligence (AI) globally, with one in five classified as 'super users'. These advanced individuals regularly use AI to meta-prompt, include examples, compare tools, and self-critique outputs.
According to the Building the Future: Hong Kong's AI Opportunities report conducted by Public First, 21% of Hong Kong citizens fall into this category. Over 80% of super users delegate full tasks, automate daily routines, and subscribe to paid AI services.
The study also found that nearly half of local adults report saving over an hour per week across their work and personal lives due to AI tools. The majority of super users are interested in trying AI agents for time and admin tasks, with 90% of those aged 25-34 and 81% of those aged 35-44 expressing interest.
Google's Michael Yue stated, 'While AI has quickly become an essential everyday assistant at home, its workplace potential is still in its early stages. As we step into the agentic era, Hong Kong's sophisticated user base provides the ideal foundation to bridge this gap.'
