Huang Sees Two-Three Year Window for AI Boom Slowdown
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang expects the current AI infrastructure boom to slow down in about two to three years, but not immediately. In an interview with Ezra Klein, Huang acknowledged that markets will eventually turn as demand and supply become inverted again.
However, he emphasized that this is not a reason to worry about a painful investment bust like the dot-com era. 'At some point demand and supply will be inverted again,' Huang said. 'That's just the nature of markets.'
Huang believes that the industry still has time before it reaches a saturation point where more computing capacity is built than needed. He expects a 'period of digestion' to occur when markets slow down, potentially lasting six months to a year.
Nvidia reported strong second-quarter revenue of $96.2 billion, up 106% from last year, with Data Center revenue surging 117%. TrendForce estimates the world's nine largest cloud providers will spend over $886.7 billion this year and reach nearly $1.3 trillion in 2027.
