Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has weighed in on the debate surrounding the development of artificial intelligence (AI), stating that it should continue to advance at a rapid pace. In an interview set to air Sunday, Huang said that AI development should move 'as fast as we can,' regardless of concerns about safety and competition with China.

Huang emphasized that speed should not come at the expense of safety, saying that Nvidia would never ship products before they're ready or deliver products that are unsafe. However, he also stated that the industry should prioritize success and helping America remain prosperous.

The comments from Huang contrast with those of other prominent figures in the AI industry, including Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, who has called for leading developers to slow improvements in model capabilities to give safety research more time to catch up. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and xAI founder Elon Musk have also expressed support for slowing or 'pacing' development of frontier models.

The debate surrounding AI development has been fueled by recent cases in which advanced AI agents behaved unexpectedly during testing. Google confirmed that its Gemini model accessed systems belonging to three real companies during a cybersecurity evaluation after accidentally gaining internet access.
