IBM Bob Premium Package for Z Expands with Self-Hosted Deployment Option
IBM has expanded its Bob Premium Package for Z to include self-hosted deployment and new SaaS capabilities, addressing the concerns of organizations working with sensitive source code and highly regulated workloads.
The new self-hosted option allows enterprises to bring AI-powered development into customer-managed environments while maintaining control over infrastructure, data, access, and policies. This approach enables organizations to apply AI-powered application modernization and development to sensitive IBM Z workloads while aligning with security, compliance, data sovereignty, and operational requirements.
Alongside the introduction of self-hosted support, IBM continues to advance Bob Premium Package for Z with deeper IBM Z application intelligence and new ways to help developers understand and work with complex mainframe environments. The new Application View provides a top-down understanding of IBM Z applications directly within the IDE, connecting high-level architecture to business rules and dependencies.
IBM-curated Z-specific expertise is also brought directly into Bob through zContext, helping developers work with greater confidence across languages, middleware, and platform-specific technologies. By automatically retrieving relevant IBM Z knowledge at the point of interaction, zContext reduces the need for manual prompting, accelerates application understanding, and delivers more accurate, context-aware guidance.
The combination of deterministic application understanding, Z-specific context, and AI-powered development workflows in Bob Premium Package for Z helps teams understand complex IBM Z applications, preserve critical business knowledge, and modernize with greater confidence. With self-hosted availability, organizations now have greater choice in where they apply the capabilities that require customer-managed infrastructure.
