IBM Brings AI In-House with Bob Platform Deployment Options
IBM has made its AI software-development platform, Bob, available for on-premises use, private-cloud environments, sovereign-cloud settings, and even air-gapped situations. This move allows sensitive data to remain within an enterprise's own infrastructure rather than being sent to external AI services.
This development addresses a significant challenge in AI adoption: dealing with sensitive or regulated data that cannot be moved to the cloud. According to IBM's Institute for Business Value, 68% of surveyed executives found it difficult to meet data-residency and sovereignty requirements across different geographies.
IBM's strategy is not about abandoning the cloud; instead, it allows customers to deploy Bob in hybrid configurations, including connections to external model services. This flexibility could be crucial as AI moves into core enterprise systems.
