IBM Partners with IIT Bombay and IISc to Drive Advancements in Agentic AI and Quantum Computing
IBM has announced the expansion of its research collaborations with two Indian institutions, IIT Bombay and IISc. The agreements aim to advance innovation in agentic AI, sovereign AI, quantum computing, and next-generation computing systems.
The collaboration with IIT Bombay began in 2018 and will continue to explore sovereign and Indic language model adaptation, multimodal AI, AI infrastructure, and knowledge retrieval. Meanwhile, the partnership with IISc started in 2021 and focuses on agentic systems, AI for applications, and quantum computing algorithm development.
Dr. Amith Singhee, Director of IBM Research India and CTO of IBM India and South Asia, stated that the next wave of computing will be shaped by advances in these areas. The collaborations aim to bring together world-class academic research and IBM's scientific expertise to solve complex challenges and create practical technologies that can benefit enterprises, developers, and society.
