IBM Stock Jumps on Self-Hosted AI Deployment Option
IBM's stock surged 3.9% in pre-market trading after introducing a self-hosted deployment option for its IBM Bob agentic AI development platform.
The new capability allows corporate users to operate AI-powered software development and modernization workflows within their own infrastructure environments, including on-premises, private-cloud, sovereign-cloud, and air-gapped setups.
By keeping workloads and data inside tightly controlled environments, the platform is designed to appeal directly to businesses that have not been able to adopt cloud-native AI development tools due to stringent data residency, compliance, and security mandates.
According to IBM's GM of AI and Automation, Neel Sundaresan, 'the future of enterprise AI will depend on security, governance and sovereignty,' positioning the self-hosted Bob rollout as a critical milestone in opening agentic AI capabilities to regulated sectors.
