IBM Stocks Slip as Agent Identity Tools Hit Nvidia OpenShell

IBM shares took a hit on Monday, September 28, falling by about 2.0% to $220.89 at 9:52am ET as the company introduced its Agent Identity and credential tools into Nvidia OpenShell.

The move positions identity and secrets management as essential infrastructure for autonomous software, according to IBM.

Agent Identity establishes an agent's identity and authority, while HashiCorp Vault controls access to credentials. IBM Identity Protection helps security teams track agents operating outside their view, and Red Hat OpenShift enables running those agents across different computing environments.

This integration could make autonomous software more manageable for large companies, creating a potential opportunity for IBM's wider software business.
