IIT Madras and Chevron Team Up on Energy Tech Incubator

Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) and Chevron have launched a joint initiative to accelerate early-stage innovations in the energy sector. The Chevron-IITM Energy Technology Incubation Program aims to support student teams, researchers, and social entrepreneurs developing solutions in technology-led energy systems, carbon utilization, circular economy, and resource efficiency.

The program will provide selected startups and researchers with access to IIT Madras' incubation ecosystem for prototype validation, business model development, grants, and market readiness. Chevron will contribute technical mentorship, industry expertise, and employee volunteering as part of its 'Chevron UDAAN' community partnership portfolio.

According to Dr. Akshay Sahni, Country Head, Chevron India, the program integrates India's engineering talent with global resources to advance affordable and clean energy solutions. Prof. Ashwin Mahalingam, Dean (Alumni and Corporate Relations), IIT Madras, emphasized that the collaboration provides essential infrastructure and guidance to translate deep-tech energy concepts into scalable, real-world applications.
