Indian American Cardiovascular Geneticist Wins 2026 Population Research Prize
Indian American cardiovascular genetics innovator Dr. Pradeep Natarajan has been named as the winner of the 2026 Population Research Prize by the American Heart Association (AHA).
The award will be presented to Dr. Natarajan on November 8th during the Presidential Session at the AHA's annual Scientific Sessions in Chicago, which takes place from November 6-9.
Dr. Natarajan is an internationally recognized expert in using human genetics and large population studies to transform our understanding and prevention of cardiovascular disease. His research has uncovered genetic mechanisms in lipid disorders, coronary artery disease, and clonal hematopoiesis, while advancing polygenic risk scores and precision medicine approaches.
Dr. Natarajan's work has also accelerated the development of novel therapeutic targets for cardiovascular disease. He is currently the vice president of global research at Amgen, where he oversees human genetics and the cardiometabolic therapeutic area.
