Indian Cyber Defences Hobbled by Internal Friction: Cisco Report
India's organisations are facing significant disruption from cyber incidents, according to a new report from Cisco. The 'Relentless Defense Report' surveyed 8,000 security professionals across 30 markets, including 1,000 respondents from India.
The report found that internal organisational friction is hindering stronger cyber defences in India. This includes bureaucratic approval delays, fragmented data, and disconnected teams.
More than one in three incidents involved artificial intelligence (AI)-enhanced attacks, which are becoming increasingly prevalent. Despite this, only 40 per cent of Indian organisations have a cohesive unit with shared tooling and visibility among their security, networking, and IT teams.
The report also highlighted communication gaps between security professionals and executive leadership as a major issue. Nearly half of Indian respondents found their security metrics too technical to persuade company executives.
