India's Top Institutes Join Forces with IBM for Cutting-Edge AI Research

IIT Bombay and IISc are teaming up with IBM to advance research in AI and quantum computing. The collaboration aims to speed up innovation in agentic AI, sovereign AI, and next-generation computing systems.

The partnership will focus on developing sovereign AI and Indic language models that can improve multilingual AI capabilities for Indian languages. Researchers will work on efficient model adaptation and optimisation tools to achieve this goal.

The collaboration also plans to explore agentic systems, AI for applications, and quantum computing algorithm development. They aim to create lightweight time-series foundation models based on the IBM Granite model family for energy analytics.
