IndiGo Ditches Norse Atlantic Lease Ahead of New Fleet Rollout

IndiGo, India's largest low-cost carrier, will terminate its wet lease agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways in October 2026. The agreement allowed IndiGo to operate Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners on long-haul flights between India and Europe before receiving their own widebody fleet.

The decision marks a strategic shift for the airline as it prepares to deploy new Airbus A321XLR aircraft and owned Airbus A350 jets, which will serve as its primary capacity solution for international routes.

Under the terms of the lease, Norse provided Boeing 787-9 aircraft, flight crews, and technical maintenance, while IndiGo staffed the flights with its own domestic cabin crew. The transition is expected to introduce scheduling and fleet adjustments across key international routes.
