Influencers Demand Home Depot and Lowe's Drop Contracts with Surveillance Tech Firm

A group of online creators has called on Home Depot and Lowe's to terminate their contracts with Flock Safety, citing concerns over data collection and potential misuse.

The letter, signed by 56 content creators with a combined 46 million followers, urges the retailers to remove Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs) from their parking lots.

Flock cameras collect license plate and vehicle data, which could be accessed by federal or local law enforcement agencies to target immigrant day laborers and other shoppers, according to the letter.

Lowe's and Home Depot have installed Flock cameras in their parking lots to help prevent and investigate theft, fraud, and organized retail crime, as well as protect customers and employees.
