iPhone 17 Shatters $170 Billion Revenue Record Amid Market Skepticism

The iPhone 17 has achieved a record-breaking $170 billion in global wholesale sales in its first year, an 11% increase over the iPhone 16 series.

Counterpoint Research estimates this figure is based on shipment and pricing models rather than company disclosures, as Apple's SEC filings don't break down iPhone revenue by model.

The research director at Counterpoint, Tarun Pathak, noted that Apple's 'strongest lineup in years' included a strategy of borrowing Pro-tier features for the base model while keeping premium buyers upgrading for camera and chip improvements.

According to IDC estimates cited by CNBC, in the first half of 2026, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max accounted for 54% of iPhone sales, against just 26% for the standard iPhone 17.
