Italian Air Force Marks Two Major Milestones with 14th Wing Anniversary

The Italian Air Force marked two major milestones at Pratica di Mare Military Airport near Rome. The 14th Wing celebrated its 50th anniversary, highlighting its pivotal role in national security and international aerial operations.

During the ceremony led by Air Force Chief of Staff Major General Antonio Conserva, officials also recognized the wing's 8th Flying Group (8° Gruppo Volo) for surpassing 50,000 flight hours with its Boeing KC-767A tanker fleet. This achievement comes on the same day as the group's original founding is celebrated - it has been active for 110 years, making it the oldest flying group in the Italian Air Force.

The milestone underscores decades of operational versatility across vast geographical theaters, including Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Indo-Pacific. This operational success reflects the long-standing industrial partnership between the Italian Air Force and Boeing, which has supported technology integration, maintenance, and fleet evolution required to project Italian defense capabilities globally.
