Itsekiri Women Protest Chevron Over Job Neglect

The Voice of Warri Kingdom Women Initiative has apologized to Ugborodo community leaders after a planned protest against Chevron Nigeria Limited. Mrs. Vivian Eric Mene, President of VWKWI, said the protest is meant to benefit the Itsekiri Nation. She claimed that Chevron had stopped taking the Itsekiris seriously and pointed out that none of the 18 recent hires were from the nation.

Mene stated that 32 qualified Itsekiris had been trained by Chevron in the past but failed to secure top positions within the company. The protesting women carried banners demanding promotion for current Itsekiri staff, women empowerment, and training. According to Mene, 'We are pained, our communities are on the losing end, we are suffering.'
