JPMorgan Chase HQ at 270 Park Avenue Wins Top Interior Prize

JPMorgan Chase's new global headquarters at 270 Park Avenue has been recognized for its interior build-out, winning ENR New York's Best Project in the interior category. JRM Construction Management led the project, which spanned 28 floors and over 1.3 million square feet of office and amenity space. Keith Frerichs from JPMorgan Chase noted that the project showcased a true partnership between client, consultants, and contractor.

The build-out was made complex by an unusual structural puzzle below street level. To clear Grand Central Terminal's subterranean train tracks, architects configured the tower's base with fan-like splayed columns that lift the structure 80 feet off the ground onto limited bearing points.

Within its scope, JRM delivered a hospitality-driven amenity floor called The Exchange, featuring a gourmet food hall inspired by restaurateur Danny Meyer. The technical demands behind this space were considerable, including suspending 13 custom cooking hoods 28 feet above the floor and laying over 30,000 square feet of end-grain Bavarian white oak flooring.

270 Park Avenue is not only notable for its interior build-out but also operates as North America's largest all-electric commercial tower with net-zero operational emissions. It is powered entirely by renewable hydroelectric energy sourced from New York State and features AI-controlled HVAC systems and advanced air filtration.
