JPMorgan Expands in India Amidst Record-Equity Capital Markets
JPMorgan Chase chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon is back in Mumbai for the bank's 11th annual India Conference, which started on September 21 and runs through September 22. The conference draws over 1,000 global investors, corporate executives, and policymakers.
Dimon met with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during the conference, according to a post by the finance ministry on X. He is also scheduled to meet executives from India's top conglomerates, including Reliance Industries, Nestle India, and Tata Steel.
JPMorgan is expanding its presence in India across various sectors, including investment banking, technology, payments, and GIFT City. The bank employs around 60,000 people in India, making it one of the largest outposts outside the US.
Dimon has praised India's reform agenda under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling Aadhaar an 'unbelievable achievement' and GST reforms 'excellent.' He expects India's stock market to reach $20 trillion over the next 20 years, from its current value of around $5 trillion.
