JPMorgan Scales Back McDonald's Stock Price Target Amid Reinvestment Plan
JPMorgan has lowered its price target for McDonald's stock to $260 from $280 while maintaining an Overweight rating. This move comes after the company outlined a four-year reinvestment roadmap at its Analyst Day presentation, which covered 2027 through 2030.
The plan aims to improve gross restaurant-level efficiency by approximately 250 basis points and increase market share in chicken and beverages by 1.5 percentage points each by 2030. Operating margins are expected to reach the low-to-mid 50% range, up from 47.5% in fiscal 2025.
McDonald's has committed approximately $8.5 billion in contributions to franchisees through 2036, with about 60% allocated by 2030. Restaurant development is expected to decline through 2030, but the company plans to improve gross annual restaurant cash flow per location by around $100,000.
JPMorgan noted McDonald's ability to drive operating platform changes and technological implementation across its global franchise system. However, not all analysts are bullish on the stock, with Evercore ISI lowering its price target to $300 from $320 and maintaining an Outperform rating due to reduced earnings estimates for 2027 through 2030.
