JPMorgan Sees Bright Spots Amid Market Volatility
JPMorgan Chase's co-President Doug Petno is optimistic about the bank's performance in the third quarter, predicting strong growth in investment banking fees and trading revenue. Speaking at the Barclays Global Financial Services Conference on Tuesday, Petno said these segments are expected to see mid-to-high teens percentage increases. This follows a 30% jump in JPMorgan's investment banking fees in the second quarter and a 35% surge in markets revenue.
Petno attributed this growth to robust deal activity, driven by management and board confidence that is fueling M&A (mergers and acquisitions) activity at an unprecedented level. He also noted that clients are resilient in the face of market volatility, reflecting the diversity and strength of the US economy.
