JPMorgan Trims Northern Trust Price Target Ahead of Earnings
JPMorgan Chase has slightly reduced its price target for Northern Trust (ISIN US6658591044) from $185.50 to $185.00, according to a research note dated October 2, 2026. The bank maintained a neutral rating on the stock ahead of Northern Trust's upcoming earnings release.
The target adjustment follows Northern Trust's second-quarter 2026 earnings report, which showed net income of $792.2 million and diluted earnings per share of $4.23. Total revenue grew 13% year-over-year, excluding notable items, and the company raised its full-year 2026 revenue growth guidance to 9% to 10% from previous estimates of mid to high single digits.
However, the earnings report had mixed elements. A $525 million pre-tax gain from a Visa exchange offer boosted results, while management warned of tougher comparisons and potential normalization in foreign exchange, capital markets, and securities lending activity in the second half of 2026.
Northern Trust also announced that CFO Dave Fox plans to retire after the first quarter of 2027. The company will conduct an internal and external search for his successor, ensuring continuity in the finance organization.
The next earnings report is scheduled for October 21, 2026, with a conference call at 8:00 a.m. Central Time. As of October 6, 2026, Northern Trust stock was trading at EUR 152.63 on Lang & Schwarz, up 0.38% from the prior close. The stock's 52-week range is $121.12 to $195.78, with a market capitalization of $31.2 billion.
