JPMorgan Unveils $750 Billion Housing Push
JPMorgan Chase is making a massive push into American housing through its $750 billion commitment to finance affordable homes. The investment, part of the bank's American Dream Initiative, aims to help one million families purchase homes and create 500,000 affordable housing units by 2035.
The commitment represents nearly 40% growth in JPMorgan's housing deployment over the previous decade. The bank plans to deploy $75 billion in housing capital annually, although specific yearly targets have not been disclosed.
San Francisco is set to be an early test for the initiative, with JPMorgan planning to invest $200 million in a 342-unit building at Power Station and up to $15 million in Fifth Space's Essential Housing Fund. This fund will support 250 units in Potrero Hill.
