Kartarpur Corridor Closure Continues Amid Security Concerns
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has stated that the Kartarpur Corridor remains closed due to security concerns. The corridor provides visa-free access to Indian pilgrims travelling to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Pakistan, but services were suspended on May 7, 2025, following a terror attack.
According to MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, the corridor's closure is due to the existing security situation. Jaiswal noted that the corridor was closed earlier this year and remains so currently.
The SGPC has urged Pakistan to increase the number of visas issued to Sikh pilgrims ahead of the Prakash Gurpurab in November. Over 7,500 devotees have submitted their passports for travel to Pakistan, exceeding the normal quota of around 1,800 pilgrims.
