Kazakhstan Seeks Separate Region Status on PlayStation and Microsoft Stores

Kazakhstan's residents face challenges accessing games on the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store due to the absence of their country as a separate region. According to Binur Zhalenov, Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstani citizens can currently purchase games using their bank cards.

The problem arose when Sony and Microsoft exited the Russian market, forcing gamers to look for workarounds. Although they used Russia as a specified region in the past, this is no longer possible.

Zhalenov stated that solving the issue is 'not entirely the work of our financial regulator; it's more of a market task.' The National Bank of Kazakhstan is working on resolving the matter by the end of the first quarter of 2027.
