Kennedy Faces Ethics Questions Over Gardasil Deal
Democratic lawmakers are criticizing Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over alleged 'deviations' from his ethics agreement.
In a January 2025 ethics disclosure, Kennedy stated that he would earn a 10% contingency fee when referring cases to a law firm representing plaintiffs suing Merck over the HPV vaccine Gardasil.
Kennedy received over $850,000 through this deal in 2024, according to his ethics disclosure. However, he recently announced plans to divest his interest in prior litigation against Merck and have any proceeds from the lawsuit go to one of his sons instead.
