Korean Air Locks Down $44.8 Billion Boeing Deal
Korean Air has finalized a massive purchase plan for Boeing aircraft and engine services worth $44.8 billion, solidifying its integration plans with Asiana Airlines.
The package includes 103 next-generation Boeing aircraft, spare engines, and long-term maintenance contracts. The airline will spend $36.2 billion on the aircraft and another $8.6 billion on spare engines and maintenance services.
Korean Air has placed orders for 20 Boeing 777-9s, 25 787-10s, 50 737-10s, and eight 777-8F freighters as part of its fleet modernization efforts.
The airline's chairman, Cho Won-tae, hailed the agreement as a milestone in the economic and technological alliance between South Korea and the United States. He stated that Korean Air will provide the highest standards of safety and service while serving as a link connecting exchanges and economic development between the two countries.
