L Catterton Sells Thorne to Procter & Gamble for $3.8 Billion
L Catterton has reached an agreement to sell health and wellness solutions company Thorne to Procter & Gamble for $3.8 billion in cash, according to a press release statement. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.
L Catterton invested in Thorne in October 2023 after conducting research into the vitamins, minerals, and supplements category, identifying a shift in consumer behavior toward clinical-based products and self-directed care. During their partnership, L Catterton recruited a leadership team, expanded marketing and commercial capabilities, invested in research and development, and built technology infrastructure.
Thorne developed an AI wellness advisor based on its scientific expertise and practitioner relationships, with Marc Magliacano, a Managing Partner at L Catterton, stating that the investment reflects the firm's approach of 'identifying enduring shifts in consumer behavior and partnering with category-leading brands to help them realize their full potential.'
Colin Watts, Chief Executive Officer of Thorne, said that L Catterton 'shared our long-term vision for Thorne, investing in our people, strengthening our capabilities across digital, AI, and supply chain, and advancing our scientific rigor, world-class manufacturing, quality standards, and innovation.'
