In a significant move toward predictive maintenance, Lufthansa Technik has signed a multi-year agreement with LATAM Airlines Group to deploy its AVIATAR digital platform across more than 300 aircraft. The deal, announced in April 2025, covers Airbus A320, Boeing 777, and Boeing 787 models, signaling a shift from reactive repairs to planned interventions. The AVIATAR platform integrates predictive analytics and condition monitoring to identify technical issues earlier, reduce unscheduled ground time, and improve maintenance planning across multiple aircraft types.

The global Aircraft Health Monitoring Market is expanding rapidly, valued at US$7.15 billion in 2025 and projected to reach US$11.78 billion by 2033, growing at a 6.5% CAGR. This growth is driven by airlines' increasing adoption of connected sensors, predictive analytics, and lifecycle-support services. Companies like Airbus, Boeing, Collins Aerospace, and Safran are well-positioned to benefit as operators seek integrated solutions. Airbus has consolidated its Skywise and Navblue capabilities into a dedicated digital business, while collaborative platforms are bringing together aircraft manufacturers, maintenance providers, and component specialists.

Recent developments highlight the industry's shift toward continuous, data-led maintenance. In April 2026, Lufthansa Technik announced Air Transat's deployment of AVIATAR's electronic technical and cabin logbooks across 43 Airbus aircraft. JetBlue selected Skywise Fleet Performance+ for its A320 Family and A220 fleets, combining aircraft health monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance planning. Airbus also expanded its Skywise's Gdańsk digital excellence center, strengthening software development and aerodata capabilities. Boeing detailed its C-17 Aircraft Data Reasoner, linking component health analysis with supply chain forecasting and spare parts positioning.

Commercial aviation represents the largest application base, with defense aviation advancing rapidly. Engine and nacelle monitoring remains the leading system segment, while line-fit solutions are gaining traction as manufacturers embed health-monitoring capabilities during aircraft production. Airbus reported that Skywise supported 54% of its in-service fleet in 2025, and the A350's aircraft condition-monitoring system processes more than 20,000 operational parameters. These developments underscore the industry's move toward integrated, data-driven maintenance solutions.
