Lattof, Devoted Husband and Community Leader, Passes Away at 97
Donald George Lattof of Boiceville, New York, passed away on September 8, 2026, at the age of 97. Born in Brooklyn in 1929 to Basheer and Athina Lattof, Don grew up to attend P.S. 94, Pershing Junior High School, and Metropolitan Vocational High School before graduating with a degree in electrical engineering from New York City Community College.
During his time in the United States Army, stationed in Germany from 1950-1952, Don began a long career with IBM that spanned over 32 years. He started as a maintenance worker on the SAGE air-defense system in Madison, Wisconsin, and later moved to Kingston, New York, where he tested new computers and led installation teams.
After his retirement from IBM in 1990, Don continued to serve others through various volunteer roles, including Meals on Wheels and RSVP Neighbor-to-Neighbor. He also worked for H&R Block for four tax seasons and spent time as a trustee and usher at Woodstock Methodist Church.
