Legacy Windows Tools Still Thriving in Modern Operating System

The legacy of Windows XP lives on in the modern operating system, particularly when it comes to system tools. Many of these tools have survived the test of time and are still being used today, even with the release of Windows 11.

Control Panel is one such tool that has seen little change over the years. Despite Microsoft's efforts to phase it out in favor of the Settings app, Control Panel still holds a place for advanced settings and configuration options. In fact, some options still redirect back to Control Panel from within the Settings app.

The Settings app does offer a decent Storage section, but it only provides surface-level information. For more detailed storage management tasks, users are still required to use Disk Management. Another legacy tool that remains useful is msinfo32 (System Information). While the About page in Windows 11 provides basic system information, msinfo32 offers a much broader view of the computer's hardware resources, components, and software environment. This makes it an invaluable resource for troubleshooting.
