Lubbock Sees Surge in New Businesses and Restaurants
Lubbock saw a surge in new businesses and restaurants in July 2026, with at least 21 announcements.
This is an increase from June 2025's 19 announcements and July 2024's 20. In fact, July has seen a steady rise over the past few years: 12 in 2023, 19 in 2025, and now 21 in 2026.
New additions to the city include All American Express, a quicker service location for fans of All American Eatery, which opened on July 27 at 98th & Frankford Ave. Asada Mexican Grill also joined the scene, opening its doors on July 13 inside the former Rusty Taco location.
Other notable openings include El Pollo Loco, a new restaurant franchise that brought citrus-marinated, fire-grilled chicken to the crowded market, and Five Star Nutrition, a nutrition shop. Layne's Chicken #2 opened its second Lubbock location on July 28, with another one slated for August.
The SMART Local Union 49 JATC training center also made its debut, providing apprentices in the sheet metal trade with a local training facility after years of traveling to New Mexico. Sweet Whisk Bakery expanded into Lubbock from Midland and Tailored Tails pet groomers opened its second location.
