Lucasfilm Leadership Shift Sparks Uncertainty for Star Wars Movie Projects

Lucasfilm is undergoing significant changes with Kathleen Kennedy stepping down as president after 14 years and Dave Filoni taking over alongside Lynwen Brennan. This leadership transition marks a new era for the Star Wars franchise, which has struggled with inconsistent theatrical results and an overcrowded development slate.

The studio's new leadership will likely re-evaluate existing projects to determine which ones fit their long-term vision. As a result, several Disney-era movie projects may now face uncertainty regarding their survival. None of these films have officially been canceled, but they are all facing legitimate uncertainty as Lucasfilm assesses what deserves to move forward.

Dave Filoni's MandoVerse crossover film was previously considered one of the safest bets in the franchise. However, it has slipped behind The Mandalorian & Grogu in priorities, and finding time for Filoni to direct a major feature has become increasingly difficult.

James Mangold's Jedi Prime movie remains on hold despite its promising concept, which explores the origins of the Jedi roughly 25,000 years before the Skywalker Saga. Under new leadership, this project could face additional delays if Lucasfilm decides other films deserve higher priority.
