Luigi Mangione Pleads Guilty in Killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson

Luigi Mangione, a 28-year-old man from New York, has pleaded guilty to federal stalking charges in connection with the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. In 2024, Mangione traveled to an investor conference where Thompson was scheduled to speak and posed as an investor to gain access.

Mangione admitted that he used a 3D printer to make a gun and shot Thompson on December 4, 2024, in Manhattan. He told the court that he trailed Thompson to the event and killed him after posing as an investor at a multibillion-dollar firm to contact UnitedHealthcare for details about the conference.

The prosecutors are seeking a life sentence, with sentencing scheduled for December 18. Mangione's guilty plea is a significant development in the case, which has been ongoing since Thompson's killing.
