Mangione Expected to Plead Guilty in Killing of Healthcare Executive
Luigi Mangione is expected to plead guilty on Friday in connection with the fatal shooting of Brian Thompson, a UnitedHealth Group Inc. executive.
The plea would resolve federal charges against Mangione, who could face life in prison as a result of the guilty plea, according to a person familiar with the matter.
US District Judge Margaret Garnett set the hearing after prosecutors and defense lawyers jointly requested one. Court records did not specify the purpose of the hearing, leaving room for uncertainty about whether the guilty plea will proceed.
