Marist University, IBM Launch AI Innovation Hub on New York Campus
Marist University and IBM have launched an Innovation Incubator at their Poughkeepsie, New York campus. This is the latest expansion of a partnership that has been in place for over 50 years.
The incubator will provide students and faculty with access to enterprise-level computing through an IBM z17 mainframe donated by IBM. This collaboration will not be limited to computer science programs but will span multiple disciplines across the university.
Three initial projects are planned under the incubator, including using autonomous AI agent teams for synthetic marketing campaigns, applying quantum optimization algorithms to financial data, and exploring how AI can improve polling methodologies. The Marist Poll will also be involved in the third project.
Marist President Kevin Weinman stated that the university's relationship with IBM has provided students with access to technology and applied learning experiences, which this new initiative extends into AI, research, and innovation across the institution.
