Marvel's Doomsday Clock Teases Major Reveal Ahead of D23
The live Avengers: Doomsday Clock has undergone subtle changes ahead of Marvel's D23 presentation. The clock, which tracks the days until the blockbuster crossover arrives in theaters on December 18, was first launched in January and has been closely watched by fans. The visual contrast of the timer has deepened significantly since August 14, giving it a more animated appearance.
On Friday, August 14, Marvel made another dramatic change to the clock, replacing the Avengers logo with Doctor Doom himself against an ornate green stained-glass backdrop. The hooded villain raises his hands toward his face while the timer runs beneath him. Sue Storm's voice was heard in the background during this change, saying, 'Victor was always the smartest guy in every room. He used to be different.'
This is not an accident, as Marvel has used this playbook before. On July 20, the minutes and seconds on the timer turned green, and ticket sales for the film went live that same morning. The changes are likely in preparation for a major reveal at D23.
The Disney Entertainment Showcase will take place at Anaheim's Honda Center in California from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. PT on Friday, August 14. Marvel will appear alongside Disney, Pixar, and Lucasfilm. Major reveals are expected, with many fans anticipating casting reveals for the X-Men reboot.
