Princeton Executive Recruiter George Henry Webb Jr. Passes Away at 94

George Henry Webb Jr., a distinguished engineer and executive recruiter, passed away on August 14, 2026, at the age of 94. Born in Oradell, New Jersey, on May 7, 1932, he grew up to have a storied career spanning various industries.

Webb attended Phillips Academy, Andover, and later graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University in 1954. He then joined the US Navy Officer Candidate School, serving as an Ensign on the USS Soley (DD 707) for three years. After his military service, he pursued technical engineering at Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati before moving to Pfizer, where he worked as an engineer in the Brooklyn fermentation pilot plant.

Webb's leadership skills led him to become President of Industrial Biochemicals after identifying and responding to costly leaks at the plant. He later joined McKinsey & Co. as a consultant and eventually formed his own recruiting firm, George Webb Associates, which was based on the top floor of 280 Park Avenue in New York City.

Webb's personal life included being married to Judy Chase for 57 years, with whom he had two children and three grandchildren. He enjoyed boating on Long Island Sound during his retirement and moved to Princeton Windrows, a senior community, where he made new friends and continued as Treasurer of the Princeton Class of 1954.
