McDonald's Appeals Again Over Refused Billboard Plans

McDonald's is appealing to the Planning Inspectorate for the second time after East Suffolk Council refused advertisement consent for a new billboard at its restaurant in Kirkley Rise, Lowestoft.

The council rejected the proposal in May, citing that the sign would be 'disproportionate and visually intrusive' in the area.

This is the second McDonald's drive-through restaurant in the town to have had plans for new signage refused by the council. The first was on Arbor Lane in Pakefield, where a freestanding double-sided sign was removed after being deemed incongruous with the surroundings.

McDonald's has now lodged an appeal with the Planning Inspectorate, which can overturn decisions if it believes councils have acted against planning law.
