McDonald's Revives Monopoly with $1 Million Prize Amid Share Price Woes
McDonald's is reviving its popular Monopoly game, launching on October 6, 2026. This year's version will offer a $1 million grand prize in the form of a $50,000 annuity paid over two decades.
The return of the promotion comes as McDonald's shares have fallen by 16% year-to-date and hit a near two-year low. The company is hoping to boost customer engagement and drive traffic with the game, which will be entirely digital this time around.
Clients will use the McDonald's app to redeem game pieces from their purchases, moving away from the traditional board game format. This year's prizes include vehicles like the 2027 Jeep Cherokee, vacations, and food rewards, but the promotion won't be available in the UK or Australia.
Despite the rollout of Monopoly, McDonald's faces ongoing challenges, including softening US sales that fell by 0.8% in the second quarter of 2026. Analysts from firms like TD Cowen and Deutsche Bank have adjusted their price targets downward, reflecting a cautious outlook amidst these sales challenges.
