McDonald's Spends Big on Store Support, Voice AI Upgrade
McDonald's has announced an $8.5 billion investment plan to support its stores and boost US sales through 2036.
The company aims to help local restaurant owners rebuild their businesses and speed up food preparation, with direct cash assistance and rent cuts to offset rising costs for food and equipment.
McDonald's management expects this support to increase average annual cash flow by about $100,000 per location.
To enhance customer experience, the chain will introduce voice AI tools in drive-thru lanes to take orders in English and Spanish, as well as run third-party ads on digital menu boards to generate additional revenue from daily foot traffic.
