McDonald's Stock Tanks Amid Weak Q3 Sales Outlook

McDonald's stock plummeted by 5 percent on Wednesday, marking its worst monthly performance since March 2020. The decline comes as the company faces weak third-quarter sales, with domestic sales projected to remain slightly negative.

Chief Financial Officer Ian Borden revealed during a conference that despite an anticipated recovery in September, overall third-quarter domestic sales are expected to be down. Borden stated, 'We expect September will be positive.'

The company noted that sluggish demand during July and August dragged down quarterly performance, preventing even a late-quarter turnaround from pulling overall U.S. comparable sales into positive territory.
