McDonald's to Unveil Revamp Plans Amid Sales Slump
McDonald's is facing increased pressure to regain its sales momentum after a disappointing quarter in the US. The company's stock has fallen nearly 20% over the past year, leaving McDonald's with a market value of about $175 billion.
The meeting comes ahead of investor day on Wednesday in Chicago, where top brass at McDonald's will unveil more details about its NEXT strategy, which focuses on menu offerings, customer satisfaction, and employee engagement.
CEO Chris Kempczinski has said the company's weak earnings were due to execution problems rather than a fundamental issue with its strategy. Skye Anderson, who leads McDonald's US business, is expected to speak at Wednesday's event.
The company plans to make its menu more appealing by expanding its chicken offerings and introducing hand-breaded chicken. It will also unveil a new restaurant design that could trigger a fresh wave of remodeling across its US locations.
